Kasey Poracky is a cinematographer and educator based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a Master’s degree in Media from Indiana University, where she emphasized cinematography. Before that, Kasey studied film and popular culture and earned a B.A. in Gender Studies, which informs her work as a cinematographer to this day. Her creative and academic work spans independent films, streaming series, and university instruction, including teaching cinematography and production at Indiana University.
Kasey's cinematography credits and crew experiences include feature films, acclaimed short films, commercials, and projects for major networks such as Netflix and The CW from her time living and working in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her work has screened at numerous festivals, including FilmQuest, Nightmares Film Festival, and Greenpoint Film Festival. She has also served as Director of Photography for branded content and documentaries, including collaborations with medical and arts organizations. A two-time recipient of Indiana University's Graduate Student Achievement Award, Kasey has been featured in podcasts and publications celebrating her visual storytelling. Kasey brings a strong background in both practical production and media theory, blending technical precision with narrative depth. With a career spanning dance, horror, and LGBTQ+ stories, Kasey is driven by a commitment to serve the story with both light and camera, to empower and transform narratives. Kasey focuses on capturing the nuances of human expression and experience, exploring the interaction between movement and camera. With eight years of experience as a university instructor and filmmaker, she brings a passion for teaching, the art of cinema, and the power of storytelling to every project. |
